What a monthly website maintenance report should contain
A maintenance report is a short record of the period: was the site up, are the certificate and domain still in date, and what did you actually do. Clients do not need a second dashboard.
What belongs in the report
- The client name, the site, and the dates the report covers.
- Homepage uptime for that period. RetainerProof probes the homepage about every 15 minutes between fuller checks.
- Full checks on the cadence you pick: daily, twice a day, weekly, or monthly.
- TLS certificate expiry and domain expiry, with days remaining.
- A Lighthouse snapshot: performance, accessibility, best practices, and SEO. It is a mobile snapshot for the period, not a security audit.
- A homepage screenshot for the period when the check includes one, next to the previous shot when we have it.
- Extra paths or API endpoints you chose to watch, up to 12 per site, and whether each page is online.
- A work log: the updates, fixes, and checks you want the client to see.
A simple outline you can copy
- Header: your studio name, the client, the URL, and the report period.
- Status line: all clear, or the one thing that needs attention.
- Uptime this period, with a day-by-day bar.
- Certificate and domain dates.
- Lighthouse scores.
- Work this period, a few lines each.
- Where to look next: the same page, updated on the next check.
Leave out vulnerability scans, malware claims, and plugin-update logs. RetainerProof does not do those, and a care report should not pretend to.
Automate it with RetainerProof
You add the public URL, pick a cadence, and write work-log entries when you do the work. The client opens a branded digest: your name and accent color on the page, uptime, certificates, Lighthouse, and the log. They do not create an account. You can also publish a public status page that shows current uptime only, without the work log.
When a check goes red we email you, and we email again when it recovers. Reminders can repeat while it stays red.
Plans are Starter at $9/month for up to 5 sites, Studio at $29/month for up to 25 sites, and Agency at $79/month for up to 100 sites. Agency removes the RetainerProof credit on the client digest and the public status page. Prices are on the pricing page.
