Comparison

Better Stack status page alternative

Better Stack is a monitoring and incident stack that includes a status page. RetainerProof is a care report with a thin public status page beside it. If you need on-call, phone alerts, and a page you write incidents on, keep Better Stack. I do not do those jobs.

On 20 October 2026 their pricing page included one status page on the free tier, then $15 a month for each extra public status page, or $12 on yearly billing. White-label was $250 per page per month, or $208 on yearly billing. That is a different price shape from a care plan.

The comparison

The free tier was $0 and listed 10 monitors and heartbeats, one status page, and Slack and email alerts. Custom CSS and JavaScript were $15 per page per month, or $12 yearly. Password authentication was $50 per page per month, or $42 yearly. Subscribers started at 1,000 included, then $40 a month per extra 1,000. Uptime checks were listed up to a 30-second frequency. A responder seat, for uptime plus telemetry, was $34 a month or $29 on yearly billing. The page header offered a 60-day money-back guarantee.

The status page section also advertises a branded page on your subdomain. I am not going to say the free page includes every paid add-on. White-label, custom CSS, and password protection were priced on their own rows.

When to keep Better Stack

Keep it when the buyer is an engineering team that wants a status page, on-call, and logs in one place. A care retainer for a brochure site does not need a $250 white-label add-on, and it also does not need me to pretend I am an incident platform. If the client expects a written incident update, their product has maintenance notices. Mine does not. The status page here is the probe record, not a post you draft.

When RetainerProof is the alternative

Use it when the status page is a courtesy and the report is the point. The client who pays for care should see the work. The public page is for the person who wants to look on a Sunday. Subscribers confirm by email, then get one mail when the site goes down and one when it recovers.

A custom hostname is available on an active subscription. Studio and Agency remove the product link and add custom CSS. There is no per-page white-label fee.

Plans are Starter at $9/month for up to 5 sites, Studio at $29/month for up to 25 sites, and Agency at $79/month for up to 100 sites. Studio is the plan marked recommended when it is for sale. Starter, including a trial, keeps a small Powered by RetainerProof link on the client digest and the public status page. Studio and Agency remove that link. Prices are on the pricing page.

FAQ

Is the RetainerProof status page white-label on Starter?

No. Starter keeps a small Powered by RetainerProof link, including during a trial. Studio at $29 and Agency at $79 remove it.

Can I write incident updates?

No. An incident is a stretch where the probe could not reach the URL. There is no composer for a maintenance notice.

Should I cancel Better Stack?

Not if you use the on-call, the phone alerts, or the 30-second multi-location checks. The care report can sit next to that. It does not replace it.
