RetainerProof vs Modular DS

Modular DS is a WordPress maintenance platform with backups, updates, uptime, and scheduled client reports. RetainerProof is the client-facing proof: work you write, and checks made from outside the site. Keep Modular DS if the platform is the job.

On 20 October 2026 the pricing page had a euro view and a dollar view. Freelance was €16 or $19 a month for 10 sites. Starter, marked most popular, was €34 or $40 a month for 35 sites. The “leave the platform” version is the Modular DS alternative.

The comparison

Business said “starting at” €59 or $69 a month for 75 sites. Enterprise said “starting at” €96 or $112 a month for 125 sites. A yearly toggle stored lower numbers, and the page said save up to 17%. I am not multiplying those yearly figures by 12. The English page description also said a PRO plan from $34 a month, which does not match the $40 Starter attribute. I am using the attributes on the cards.

When to keep Modular DS

Keep it when you want backups, safe updates, and a report that can include the tasks you logged in their task manager. Freelance already lists scheduled reports. The faster uptime intervals and the report logo swap show up as you move up the cards. I do not sell a 2-minute check as a separate tier, and I do not take the backup.

When to use RetainerProof

Use it when the client page should exist even if the site is not in a WordPress dashboard. The checks are the homepage, extra paths, the certificate, the domain, and a Lighthouse snapshot. The work is yours. A quiet month stays honest because you do not invent chores to fill a template.

Plans are Starter at $9/month for up to 5 sites, Studio at $29/month for up to 25 sites, and Agency at $79/month for up to 100 sites. Studio is the plan marked recommended when it is for sale. Starter, including a trial, keeps a small Powered by RetainerProof link on the client digest and the public status page. Studio and Agency remove that link. Prices are on the pricing page.

FAQ

Which Modular DS number is the real price?

The cards stored both currencies. Freelance monthly was €16 and $19. Starter monthly was €34 and $40. Business and Enterprise were labeled starting at. Pick the currency the toggle shows you at checkout.

Does every Modular DS plan white-label the report?

Every plan card listed a white-label plugin and scheduled client reports. Replacing the “Created by Modular DS” logo was described on their help page as Business or Enterprise.

Does RetainerProof back up the site?

No. If the retainer includes backups, keep a backup tool. The report can mention a backup only if you actually ran it.
